Description
Boof Games is the publishing and development label for dutch game developer Tomas Sala.
History
Early historyIn 2001 I was one of the co-founders of the Little Chicken Game Company and at that time the nederlands had very little in the way of an established game development industry. Without the self-publishing Indie scene we have now, Little Chicken Game Company was setup as an applied game development studio and partner for advertising, brands, education and basically any third party looking to apply game design to their business or organization. Having been part of the creation of the applied game industry from the start, Little Chicken has made a name for itself over the years earning numerous awards and developing applied games ranging from Wii Balance Board games for visually impaired children to internationally released branded games such as Aviation Empire for KLM Royal Dutch Airlines.
Moonpath to ElsweyrIn 2012 the release of the Skyrim creation Kit by Bethesda triggered my creative appetite for entertainment game design. After having worked nearly a decade on maturing our Little Chicken Studio and business development, it was time to test my skills on modding a AAA title such as Skyrim. And get back to where I personally came from, being a 3D artist, animator and game designer and programmer. What initially started as a curious exploration of the Steam Workshop, the creation Kit and modding in general, resulted in one of the most popular Quest mods for Skyrim, the Moonpath to Elsweyr. This startling succes and the subsequent response from both the gaming press and the community, sold me on the idea that some of my work and concepts could find a large enough audience to make additional side projects a valid enterprise. And led to the development of Oberon's Court my first truly independend and commercial project.
Boof Games and Oberon's CourtBoof Games is a new venture a label for experiments and commercial games. Under this label work has started on Oberon's Court. And just like my experience with modding, I'm trying to engage as much with a community of fans and potential players. This means posting, sharing and generally pitching as many of the design decissions to as many people as possible. Boof Games as a label is not affiliated in any way to Little Chicken Game Company and is a seperate entity focussed on entertainment games and experiments. ALthough I myself am still an active team member and director at Little Chicken Game Company.
